LCC Life & times of a UX Designer

LCC UX designer presentation

Today we gave a presentation to a small group of students at London College of Communication (part of the University of the Arts London). The purpose was to give them some insight into what it is like working within UX Design.

The presentation was broken down into the following areas:

  • What is UX Design?
  • Why is it important?
  • What does a UX Designer do?
  • Tools of the trade?
  • What makes a good UX Designer?
  • Show me the money!
  • Website review
  • Reading list & links
  • Questions

The session was pretty informal and there was a good amount of dialogue between us and the students. At one point we got a little sidetracked and even had a mini debate on developing websites with hand-coded PHP v's frameworks (e.g. WordPress). But that's another story.

All in all a productive morning and a chance to give a little something back. Hopefully everyone involved managed to walk away with a little extra insight into the UX world.

You can download the (25MB) PDF from the presentation here.
