iPhone 4 disappointment
With the recent release of the iPhone 4 and accompanying iOS 4.0, Apple were bound to be onto another winner. But it seems as though people have been having problems with the phone losing reception when holding the handset in a certain way.
This begs the question of whether Apple tested the device thoroughly enough before releasing it to the general public. It also raises the issue of how much will this latest embarrassment harm Apple's reputation.
Over the past 5 years, we've converted from a PC-based environment to a totally Mac-based existence. All in all the process was painless and we never wish to touch another Windows machine again. But recently Apple's public hiccups are making us wonder a little. The latest fiasco, combined with our own experience of having one of our PowerBooks break (after 3 years of happy service) and more recently the screen on a MacBookPro break (£500 for a new screen - no Apple Care), we are starting to wonder.
Apple are still great, and the products they develop are some of the best on the market, but they need to be careful that they don't go down the Microsoft route and become complacent with their growing popularity (and position of power).
The jury is still out on the iPhone 4, it may change everything, but possibly not in the way Apple were hoping for!
