New year 2008: A trip to Liverpool to see the V

January 6th, 2009

This New Year was spent up in Liverpool visiting my old friend Vinny (a.k.a. Raj) and family. I knew Vinny through secondary school and Richie (a.k.a. The Dog) knows him from university days.

We took The Dog’s surf wagon up to Liverpool on the 30th and stayed for two days with Vinny and his family (wife and 14 month old son) up in Liverpool. It was great to see the old boy, as we haven’t seen each other for over three/four years. They live in a small terrace house, just like the ones from Coronation Street. William, Vinny’s son is very cute and a bright boy, give him a few more months and he will be walking (watch out).

We had a little whistle stop tour of the sights of Liverpool, my favourite being the Albert Docks (a gentrified dock area now housing the Maritime and Tate museums, shops, bars, restaurants and apartments). New Year’s Eve itself was spent at home with some tasty food, plenty of booze, music and banter.

All in all a good trip, shame Rich and I didn’t pack the boards, as there was a swell running down in Devon that we could have taken a detour for on the way back, oh well, next time!
