Brazil Surf Tour footage

June 27th, 2007

After being back from Brazil for nearly 5 weeks I have started the edit on the footage I shot in Rio and Salvador. I actually wish I had started it sooner, as now I am really busy with work and socialising, so only have about 1 hour spare every day, but a few week’s ago I just couldn’t handle looking at it all for obvious reasons, anyway…

I have put together the first scene and all is going well, so hopefully I will be able to get it done and sent out to all the folks I met by the end of the summer. It is also more than likely that I will put together another website like I did for WST06 and YouTube the DVD up, watch this space.

More Freebording

June 27th, 2007

I popped out at lunch today and did a little Freebording over at Highbury Fields. There is a little hill next to the green and it gives a pretty sweet ride. I did about 5 or 6 runs and had a good time.

This evening BJC and me headed back over there after work for a little more action, but after about 5 mins it started to rain. It was a bit of a shame as I could feel the board sliding in the turns a little, rather than just carving, so hopefully this is a little sign of some progression, I do admit, it is a lot harder than the guys on the Freebord website make out, but hey, all good to have another sport to master.

Surfing The Gower this weekend

June 27th, 2007

So BJC and I are hoping to hit up The Gower in South Wales this weekend, the swell looks to be pretty good, so we are hoping the charts will stay on track over the next few days. Sunday looks to be the best day with reportedly 8ft wave faces, which to be fair will be pretty intense. I am thinking I might pack the 6′4 as well as the 6′0 UB fish, we’ll see. It will be great fun to take them down to BJC’s on the tube, NOT.

Another weekend, another party

June 24th, 2007

So it turned out to be another crazy weekend, I have just got home (Sunday evening) after leaving the house on Friday morning for work. The festivities started Friday afternoon with office cocktails, this week’s theme was orange, so I made up a few concoctions for everyone and the party got under way. Gustavo and I then met up with Richie for a quick beer and then headed off to the Market Place. After a few more drinks I got the urge to dance, and started busting some moves with the girls on the dance floor. We then left and took the night bus back to Queens Park, meeting some random Brazilian girls on the way, so I practiced my Portuguese with a little help from Gustavo, and even got a few compliments in the form of ‘muito bonito’, we finally hit the hay at 3ish in the morning.

Saturday turned out to be more of the same. I headed over to Jess’ for her birthday picnic and had a good time catching up and meeting some new people. We had a nice picnic, although we had classic English sunshine and showers, which resulted in us having to take shelter under a big tree on numerous occasions. I got everyone on the (particularly lethal) caipirinhas, which took us from late afternoon into the evening.

Dez and I then hit the town for a few drinks and a little smoozing with the ladies, and from there it becomes a bit of a blur. I remember going to the bar, but have no idea how I got home, whom I was with and how on earth I managed to get lost. All I remember was waking up in Richmond this morning and having a rather sore head (again).

Anyway this week I’m hoping to tone it down a little bit, as 4 nights out of 7 on the town, albeit great fun, has left me a little exhausted. I am also getting a bit of a reputation in the office as a dirty stop out, and the more I deny things the more people think I’m getting it on with a different girl every night, haha, might just have to see if I can live up to that accusation!

Freebording with the crew

June 21st, 2007

Last night BJC, Sulli and I hit up Highbury Fields and tested our my Freebord. After a few wobbles and near wipeouts, we were soon heading down a little hill, carving and linking some turns and even busting out the occasional 180. All good fun, watch this space for more…

Big drops at Farol da Barra

June 17th, 2007

I took this little sequence from some video I shot last month when I was surfing out in Brazil at Farol da Barra in Salvador, as you can see there are some pretty reasonable sized drops and some nasty accompanying whitewash, love that!

Freebord has arrived

June 14th, 2007

So I got my Freebord this afternoon, had it delivered to work and assembled it over a beer on the terrace whilst the guys and girls played a few games of pool and did the mini-gig. I had a cool evening hanging out with everyone, and am also looking forward to Friday afternoon cocktails tomorrow, as well as hanging out with Carinan and Janos.

I have a feeling it is gonna be a little harder to ride than I previously thought, but a new challenge all the same, I am bound to be posting again over the next few weeks reporting all my cuts, scrapes and near-death experiences, but hey…

The weekend

June 11th, 2007

So I had a cool weekend hanging out with the work crew on Friday night having a few drinks, watching a gig and then having a few more chilled out drinks back at the Church. Saturday was a little bit of a struggle, but ended up being a cool day sitting in Hyde Park and watching the world go by with Beej, Mark, JC and Celeste. Sunday was more of the same, although we hung out at Highbury Fields and skateboarded, played basketball in the sun and took in the views of many a bikini-clad girl!

Step up to a Freebord

June 8th, 2007

So BJC tuned me into this very cool new gadget which is supposed to be like snowboarding on land, I reckon it will also help improve my surfing as well, check the video out below, I think I am about to make a purchase!
